Firefighters battle fire at Estes Park hotel; one person injured

At 8:40 p.m. Friday, Estes Valley Fire Protection District firefighters were dispatched to a commercial fire alarm at 1701 North Lake Ave. in Estes Park.

In telephone calls at 8:43 p.m., occupants reported seeing flames and smoke. Subsequent callers reported that the fire was spreading. At 8:44, the responding EVFPD battalion chief upgraded the response to a second alarm.

Upon arrival, EVFPD units found a hotel room on the first floor on the north side of the hotel complex fully involved with fire. The fire was extending to the second floor. Firefighters extended a hose line from the first arriving engine to control the fire on the first and second floors at 8:56 pm. Other arriving firefighters performed a search of the fire rooms and adjacent areas. Police officers arriving before and with firefighters searched other areas of the hotel complex and evacuated residents. Two dogs were removed from an adjacent room…
