At 8:40 p.m. Friday, Estes Valley Fire Protection District firefighters were dispatched to a commercial fire alarm at 1701 North Lake Ave. in Estes Park.
In telephone calls at 8:43 p.m., occupants reported seeing flames and smoke. Subsequent callers reported that the fire was spreading. At 8:44, the responding EVFPD battalion chief upgraded the response to a second alarm.
Upon arrival, EVFPD units found a hotel room on the first floor on the north side of the hotel complex fully involved with fire. The fire was extending to the second floor. Firefighters extended a hose line from the first arriving engine to control the fire on the first and second floors at 8:56 pm. Other arriving firefighters performed a search of the fire rooms and adjacent areas.
