’47 years of waiting. It’s beyond words’: Dozens of Iranian Americans celebrate in Portland streets after U.S. strikes kill Ayatollah

PORTLAND, Ore. — Some Iranian Americans in Downtown Portland gathered at Pioneer Courthouse Square on Sunday, celebrating after the U.S. launched strikes on Iran.

While many Americans have criticized the attacks, Iranian Americans KGW spoke with say the strikes were long overdue.

“This is an incredible moment,” said Logan Stewart, who is half-Iranian. “For my entire life, I’ve never been to Iran. I’ve been afraid of possibly going there, being seen as an American spy, and having freedom for the country is just amazing.”…
