Cape Coral police target distracted driving in citywide operation

CAPE CORAL, Florida — The Cape Coral Police Department conducted a citywide traffic saturation operation on March 2, 2026, specifically targeting distracted driving.

The operation, funded by an FDOT sub-grant, took place from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and resulted in 78 total citations, according to a press release from the department. Officers made 84 traffic stops, issuing 45 speed citations, 64 moving citations, and 34 distracted driving citations.
