City lawmakers question comptroller’s hiring choice

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Buffalo’s comptroller is looking to hire an assistant who was once terminated from her job at city hall. It’s a move that some city lawmakers are questioning.

Comptroller Barbara Miller-Williams said she is moving forward with hiring Karla Thomas. Thomas served as the city’s human resources commissioner under former Buffalo mayor Byron Brown.

She was let go after the city paid more than $2 million in benefits to former employees who had already died…
