Family holds silent protest outside Atrium Children’s Hospital, demanding accountability after child injured due to alleged negligence

CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A family is still demanding accountability from Atrium Health after they claim their child suffered severe injuries as a result of the hospital’s negligence.

The family gathered Tuesday morning outside the Atrium Health Levine Children’s Hospital and held a silent protest, hosted by True Healing Under God, a civil rights organization.

They filed a medical malpractice lawsuit, saying their child, Ma’Nyla Grace Conley, who was born prematurely, suffered a stroke that was caused by the improper placement of a catheter. The filing alleged that this caused the young girl’s paralysis, and the family wasn’t informed that it caused the stroke until several months later.

Atrium offered a $5 million settlement, but the family turned it down last fall. They say they’re going to keep pushing for change…
