Cape Coral man arrested for stealing Jeep using AirTag tracking

CAPE CORAL, Florida — A Cape Coral man was arrested after police tracked a stolen Jeep using an Apple AirTag, according to a press release from the Cape Coral Police Department.

On March 2, 2026, at approximately 3:59 p.m., officers responded to a report of a stolen black Jeep Wrangler at the Mobil Gas Station on Del Prado Boulevard North. The victim reported his vehicle was taken while he was inside the store, and an Apple AirTag attached to his keys later pinged to a residence in the 1800 block of Northeast 20th Terrace.

Officers quickly located the stolen Jeep in the backyard of an unoccupied residence on Northeast 21st Street. A neighborhood canvass produced multiple home security videos showing a male in a gray hooded sweatshirt parking the Jeep and entering the front lanai of the Northeast 20th Terrace residence.
