MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) — Phones down, eyes up — that’s the message from Mount Pleasant police as officers begin enforcing South Carolina’s new hands-free driving law.
It has only been a few days since the law took effect, but during a ride-along with the Mount Pleasant Police Department, it didn’t take long to find drivers in violation.
“You cannot have any electronic device in your hands while the vehicle is in motion,” said Sergeant Robert Bedard. “Whether you are just picking it up, whether you are sending a text, answering a phone call — if you drop it — you cannot have it in your hand.”…
