CCFD traces fire cause back to illegal camp fire

What was discovered to be an illegal camp fire in north Cape Coral on Sunday shut down parts of Del Prado Boulevard and sent massive plumes of smoke into the air.

According to Cape Coral Fire Department officials, the blaze spanned 36 acres before being contained.

CCFD officials on social media stated,”The cause of the fire was determined to be an illegal camp fire. Please remember that Cape Coral and all of Lee County is under a burn ban. No open flames are permitted at this time in order to prevent fires like this that had the potential to threaten structures from occurring.”…
