Redwood City man tied to residential burglaries, home invasion on Peninsula: sheriff

(KRON) — A man nabbed by police during a residential burglary in Redwood City last month has been connected to a brazen San Carlos home invasion that occurred a week earlier, the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office announced Tuesday. Further investigation in the case allegedly tied the suspect, identified as 36-year-old Miguel Antonio Aguilar-Sarabia, to a second home burglary in Redwood City.

Investigations began on January 9 when the sheriff’s office responded around 2 a.m. to a robbery at a San Carlos home in the 1400 block of Greenwood Avenue. Deputies learned that a suspect forced their way into the home and pointed what appeared to be a firearm at the resident while demanding valuables. The suspect then fled on a bicycle before authorities arrived.

On January 17 at 4 a.m., the Redwood City Police Department was called to the 300 block of Alameda De Las Pulgas for a prowler inside a home.

“A caregiver reported that she and the elderly homeowner were in the lower level of the residence when she heard footsteps coming from upstairs,” the sheriff’s office wrote. “The caregiver also reported the home’s alarm system had not activated after the power went out shortly before the noises began.”…
