Pickens County council hears from residents on speedway fate, library director firing

PICKENS COUNTY, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – Pickens County Council met Monday night with two major issues drawing a standing-room-only crowd: the future of Greenville-Pickens Speedway and the recent firing of the county’s library director.

Supporters of Greenville-Pickens Speedway have been rallying for months, packing county chambers for what could be their last opportunity to be heard before a key vote. The Planning Commission is scheduled to meet next week, where developers’ plans to demolish the track could be voted on.
