MARTIN COUNTY – A 72-year-old Colorado doctor is responsible for a shooting incident on March 2 at 12th Street and Commerce Avenue near Vero Beach, officials with Martin County Sheriff’s Office and Indian River County Sheriff’s Office confirmed March 3.
Thomas Earl Steffens of Grand Junction, Colorado, was shot four times near the railroad tracks at 12th Street at about 8:30 p.m., by deputies after Steffens fired at officers from his car, Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek said during a March 3 joint press conference at MCSO with Indian River County Sheriff Eric Flowers.
