Advocates urge Monroe County to reconsider short term rental registry after Charlotte shooting

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Advocates are calling for change after a shooting at a short-term rental in Charlotte left two 16-year-olds injured, one critically. The incident took place at house rented through VRBO during a party on Saturday night.

Neighbors expressed their concerns following the recent shooting. Robert Johnson, who lives nearby, recounted the chaotic scene. “Gunshots woke me up, and the next thing you know, everybody was scared and running towards the car,” Johnson said.
