Shooting call in Ventura ends up as swatting incident, police say

Ventura police sent multiple officers to a home on the east end after a report of a shooting inside, but it ultimately turned out to be a swatting incident.

The Ventura Police Department responded at 4:20 p.m. to a call from a female who said she was in the home in the 1500 block of Lobelia Avenue, according to police Cmdr. Mike Brown. At some point during the call, the sound of a gunshot was heard, he said.

Officers arrived and tried multiple times to call the resident whose number they had independently of the caller but to no avail. Meanwhile, police started to evacuate the neighbors in the adjacent residences, Brown said…
