Nearly $3.5 million award for Mass. Police body cams

WESTERN MASS. (WGGB/WSHM) — 32 local police departments across Massachusetts are getting a major tech upgrade on Tuesday, thanks to a new round of state funding.

The Healey-Driscoll Administration announced nearly $3.5 million in grants to help departments launch or expand body-worn camera programs.

The areas in Western Mass. getting the equipment are as follows:

  • Conway Police Department, $31,844
  • Shelburne Police Department, $63,067
  • Southwick Police Department, $28,163
  • West Springfield Police Department, $110,444
  • Westfield Police Department, $174,000
