Shreveport Water Troubles Continue, But Progress Is Being Made

Shreveport is still dealing with a water crisis. Crews have been working around the clock to get the problem fixed. A 42″ water main near the water plant on Cross Lake ruptured over the weekend. The break was under water, so crews have been busy installing a temporary bypass to the system.

What Areas Are Seeing Improvements?

• The airport area is seeing a significant pressure increase and is doing well. • Most local hospitals are reporting improvements and are near normal levels. • Pressure has also improved in west Shreveport.

All of the city remains under a voluntary boil advisory. The advisory will not be lifted until the bypass line is removed, the system is fully stabilized, and water samples are collected and confirmed safe in coordination with the Louisiana Department of Health.

Mayor Tom Arceneaux is hopeful the repairs will be made by Friday.
