Blanchard nears first public meeting on contentious data center. There may not be enough space.

Blanchard-area residents will get their first opportunity Tuesday night to learn more about the data center being built nearby, but anyone wanting to be allowed in should get to the 6 p.m. meeting early. The space at Blanchard Townhall at 110 North Main St. has a maximum occupancy of 60 people.

“It’s the largest space we had to offer,” Mayor Jim Galambos told The Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate. “The occupancy is set by the State Fire Marshal.”

William Bradford, a community liaison for STACK Infrastructure, the company funding and developing the Caddo-Bossier data centers, promises that those unable to take part Tuesday night will be given other chances. “This won’t be the only opportunity to engage in the process,” he said.

What the meeting is about

The reported 1.3 million-square-foot Amazon Web Services data center on Stateline Road was one of two officially announced by Governor Jeff Landry on Feb. 23. The project first came into public view on Dec. 9 when the Town of Blanchard unanimously approved a Resolution to sell 1.5 million to 5 million gallons of water per day to the “Stateline data center.”…
