SPRINGFIELD, MO – Motorists in northeast Springfield are finding that a brand new street has opened to traffic.
On Friday, the City of Springfield announced that the Eastgate Avenue extension is now open. The new route lengthened Eastgate north beyond its former endpoint at Division Street, and around a bend to a new intersection at Le Compte Road. The project entailed constructing a brand new three-lane street (one lane in each direction with a middle turn lane), a multi-use path, and new traffic signals at the Division/Route YY intersection.
