$9.3M WIS 76 project in Outagamie County to begin March 9

OUTAGAMIE COUNTY, Wis. (WFRV) – Governor Tony Evers has signed a nearly $10 million contract to reconstruct 1.5 miles of State Highway 76 in the village of Greenville and the town of Ellington.

The $9.3 million project will upgrade WIS 76 from Everglade Road to County JJ, with construction set to begin March 9, 2026. The highway will be closed to through traffic during construction, with detours in place. Michels Construction of Brownsville is the primary contractor.

The project will convert the roadway from a rural section to an urban design featuring curb and gutter. A new roundabout will be constructed at the WIS 76 and County JJ intersection, and the speed limit will be reduced from 45 mph to 35 mph. Pedestrian accommodations, including 5-foot sidewalks with 6-foot terraces and paved shoulders, will also be added.

Stage 1 of construction is expected to run from March 9 through approximately November 2026. During this phase, WIS 76 between Everglade Road and County JJ will be closed, with traffic detoured via WIS 15 to County JJ and back to WIS 76…
