GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) — As warmer temperatures arrive and spring cleaning begins, the National Fire Protection Association has tips to help prevent a fire in your home.
Dryer safety
One place to check is your dryer. Clean the lint filter between every load of laundry, and also check the back of the dryer where lint can build up. Make sure the air exhaust vent pipe is not restricted and that the outdoor vent flap will open when the dryer is operating.
Garage and flammable liquids
If spring cleaning takes you to the garage, make sure gasoline and any other flammable liquids are stored properly. Those should be stored in a garage or shed — never indoors. Make sure caps are on tight.
