West Ada adopts artificial intelligence policy

The West Ada school board voted Monday to adopt an official policy on the use of artificial intelligence, taking effect immediately.

The policy, which easily passed after its third reading, is a recognition by the board that “artificial intelligence (AI), when utilized effectively, has the potential to enhance the teaching and learning experiences in our schools.”

It directs the superintendent to establish procedures governing the use of AI tools, and establishes principles of educational enhancement, academic honesty and transparency, and student privacy that should be central to their use in the classroom…
