Furniture Mission officially settled into new location

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — A nonprofit that helps families in need get furniture and household items is giving us a look inside its new location.

The Furniture Mission of South Dakota officially moved into the spot southeast of downtown in November. The organization had an open house Monday morning.

Prior to moving into the new building, the organization went from using 14,000 square feet of space shared between two facilities to a new 25,000 square foot facility.

“We have an area for kind of staging. So when we serve clients, they can come in and actually pick a pod, of which furniture they want,” Furniture Mission board president Dustin Hansen said. “And then obviously our carpenter shop here, we also have a room for painting and staining. So once items get built or donated, they need a little touch-up paint, they’ll go to that area.”…
