Steele Elementary celebrates 125 years in Colorado Springs School District 11

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — On Friday, March 6, Steele Elementary will celebrate its 125-year anniversary serving as a leader in student achievement and academic excellence, according to Colorado Springs School District 11 (D11).

D11 said Steele Elementary was founded in 1901 and is a member of the International Baccalaureate program, creating an academic pathway for students to North Middle School and Palmer High School.

The celebration happens on Friday at 3 p.m. and is open to the public. D11 said the event will have students and staff participating in a hands-on exploration of “Steele Through The Eras.” After school will feature a speech by current Steele parent and Colorado Springs Mayor, Yemi Mobolade, along with community events such as an art mural installation and a time capsule recently discovered at the Pioneer Museum…
