BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Lockport man has been sentenced to two years in prison for scamming homeowners while working as a contractor, the Erie County District Attorney’s Office announced Tuesday.
53-year-old Wayne Michalak, the owner of WNY Backyard Enclosures, LLC, was hired to build a garage on a customer’s property in the Town of Marilla in April 2022. Authorities said Michalak admitted to failing to perform any services after accepting his customer’s payment of $28,889.38.
In May 2022, officials said Michalak accepted a payment of $5,000 from a customer in the Village of Blasdell. Michalak was hired to install a concrete patio and pergola on the customer’s property. Authorities said he failed to perform the services after receiving the homeowner’s down payment…
