COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — A Columbus police officer who was relieved of duty in 2024 was arrested in Delaware County over the weekend following a violent argument with his live-in girlfriend, according to court records.
Jacob Smith was charged with felony counts of strangulation and illegal possession of a firearm in a liquor-permit premises. He is being held in the Delaware County Jail on a $225,000 bond after a hearing in Delaware County Common Pleas Court on Monday afternoon.
