‘We will police ourselves’: Kansas City store owners push back on shooter bottle ban

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Convenience and liquor store owners in the Prospect corridor met Monday to draft a partnership agreement proposal, one day before City Council is set to take up an ordinance that would ban the sale of small single-serve liquor bottles in five neighborhoods.

Mayor Quinton Lucas and Councilwoman Melissa Robinson introduced the ordinance last week. It would ban shooter bottle sales in the Prospect Corridor, Independence Avenue, Midtown, Downtown, and the Blue Ridge Corridor.

Kay White, owner of W-W Crown Convenience Store on 27th and Benton, said the ban would hurt her business but would not address the underlying problem…
