Car plows into Dorignac’s Food Center in Metairie, forcing temporary closure

METAIRIE, La. — A car crashed into Dorignac’s Food Center on Veterans Boulevard in Metairie on Tuesday, heavily damaging the liquor store section and forcing the store to close temporarily.

The crash occurred around 6:05 p.m. while dozens of people were inside shopping, according to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office. No injuries were reported, according to JPSO, but Dorignac’s Food Center owner Nicole Dorignac told WWL Louisiana that the driver was transported by ambulance after the crash.

Photos shared with WWL Louisiana by a customer show a destroyed wall, damage to the ceiling and a toppled beverage fridge.

JPSO would not comment on how the crash occurred or whether the driver faces any charges, saying the incident is under investigation…
