SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — A witness to a deadly shooting in downtown Springfield last week recounts his story in trying to save the victim.
Prosecutors have charged 22-year-old Caden Burks with second-degree murder in the killing of 48-year-old Anothny Chambers on Friday, Feb. 27. Additional charges include unlawful use of a weapon and two counts of armed criminal action.
The shooting happened near South Avenue and Walnut Street at around 8 p.m. Burks told officers there was no prior aggression between them, but he felt that Chambers would “do something to him.”…
