The San Antonio Police Department has fired an officer who plowed his vehicle into a home’s front yard while drunk on duty last year, suspension records obtained by the Current show.
David McCall, an 18-year veteran of the force, crashed his personal vehicle on Aug. 5 in west Bexar County while he was supposed to working his police job, according to disciplinary records. At the time, his blood alcohol content was measured at 0.238, or approximately three times the legal limit, documents show.
McCall, 59, pleaded no contest in the criminal case Feb. 4 and received deferred adjudication, KSAT reports, citing court records. He must serve a year’s community service and will spend 6 months with a device on his vehicle that won’t permit it to start if he’s been drinking, according to the TV station.
