Sedgwick County considers extending pause on data center applications

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – The hot topic of data centers comes up again on Wednesday as Sedgwick County leaders consider extending a pause on data center applications in the county.

Currently, there aren’t any formal rules in Sedgwick County zoning codes for the massive computer server facilities. In January, the county suspended data center permit applications for 90 days to study impacts on energy, water and property values.

That pause ends in April but the county says it needs more time to get public input and complete its study on data center development…
