Macomb County man pleads no contest after trying to stab police officer’s face with screwdriver

STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. – A 32-year-old man from Eastpointe has pleaded no contest to charges after reportedly attempting to stab a police officer with a screwdriver.

It happened October 2025 at a Walmart store in Sterling Heights.

According to authorities, police responded to the store on reports of shoplifting. When they arrived, Joshua Mills reportedly ran off. An officer pursued and deployed a taser, striking Mills. While on his back as officers attempted to arrest him, Mills reportedly sat up and tried to stab an officer in the face with a screwdriver…
