Man on hospice care dies in Dauphin County fire, neighbors say

The 71-year-old man who was found dead inside his Dauphin County home after a Monday fire had been receiving daily hospice care and relied on supplemental oxygen, neighbors said.

The fire, which took place around 5:30 p.m. Monday along the 300 block of Hershey Road in South Hanover Township, killed Christopher Geyer, according to police.

Geyer, who worked as a truck driver before becoming ill, had been using the home’s first-floor living room as a bedroom, neighbors said.
