MOBILE, Ala. (NBC 15) — A Mobile County Public Schools board member says he removed a social media post showing a bullying incident at Lott Middle School after receiving what he described as a heartfelt message from a parent. Johnny Hatcher initially posted the video Tuesday night on his personal Facebook page. The video appeared to show a boy taunting and striking another student who was seated. The post drew dozens of comments from community members expressing outrage and calling for action. On Wednesday morning, Hatcher posted an update saying the mother of the boy who struck the student asked him to remove the video.
“In my interactions with parents over the past three years, this mother’s message has been uniquely heartfelt and commendable. She handled the situation with the seriousness and responsibility one would hope for, notably without attempting to justify her child’s actions in the video,” Hatcher wrote…
