NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — A Newport News man has been sentenced to 10 years and three months in federal prison for fentanyl trafficking and possessing a firearm in connection with drug sales.
According to court records, 48-year-old Kenneth Matthews was bringing large amounts of narcotics from Maryland and selling them in the Hampton Roads area in 2025. On July 12, 2025, Virginia State Police conducted a traffic stop on Matthews’ vehicle after a narcotics dog alerted to drugs.
