2 hospitalized after fire breaks out at St. Pete duplex

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Two people were hospitalized after a fire broke out at a St. Pete home on Wednesday morning.

St. Petersburg Fire Rescue responded just after 9:30 a.m. to a one-story duplex on 33rd Avenue N off of 34th Street. They arrived to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the home.

Before firefighters arrived, a St. Petersburg police officer helped a person climb out of a window to get to safety. Fire crews helped three more people evacuate safely…
