Great Horned Owl rescued and released after recovery

A Great Horned Owl rescued by a veterinary technician after being struck by a car in Napa County has made a full recovery and been released back into the wild. The owl suffered a coracoid fracture, a critical bone for flight, and required weeks of careful treatment and creative bandaging to keep her wing still.

After several weeks of healing, including treatment for a corneal abrasion and foot injuries, the owl was cleared for release. She was set free at a safe site near the intersection where she was found, far enough from traffic but within her familiar territory.
