NYCLU backs ‘Twiggy’ Billue as she files stay to halt removal from Syracuse school board

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Former Syracuse City School District Board of Education Commissioner Cherlyne “Twiggy” Billue has filed a stay and an appeal with the New York State Education Department.

The move comes after she was ousted from the district’s Board of Education on Jan. 20. The filing seeks to temporarily halt her removal, ask for a commissioner’s review and reinstate Billue to the board.
