Names Of Men Found Dead In Nob Hill Apartment Fire Released

The names of two men found dead following a fire at the Nob Hill Apartments in Syracuse have been released. According to Syracuse.com, the deceased are Augustus Grissett Sr., 78, and Kavion Barrot, 26. The fire broke out early Saturday morning (February 28) in Building 3 of the complex.

Grissett was found in the apartment where the fire started, while Barrot was discovered in a locked bathroom on the same floor. The cause of the fire is under investigation, but Onondaga County District Attorney William Fitzpatrick noted that Grissett used oxygen, which may have accelerated the blaze. The fire, fueled by tires and car parts in the apartment, was exacerbated by 30 mph winds.

In addition to the fatalities, two people were injured, and over 50 tenants were displaced. The fire left the building unfit for occupancy, and tenants were given only 15 minutes to retrieve essential items, as reported by WSYR-TV…
