Pastor demands justice at funeral of Da’quain Johnson

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Pastor Darryl Gaddy made his position known when it comes to how Da’quain Johnson died on February 18. He spent most of his eulogy saying his community wants justice.

“We are grieving, but we’re grieving with purpose,” said Gaddy during the funeral. “We start our grief, but we move forward with purpose, recognizing that it’s because of what occurred on that evening with Da’quain that we find ourselves being called again to action.”

Da’quain was shot Wednesday, Feb. 18 after police received reports of a man riding a bike with a gun on Eastern Avenue SE. Police responded and chased Johnson on his bike for at least 90 seconds, police say. Johnson then turned into a parking lot behind an apartment complex and got off his bike…
