Richmond launches ‘Pothole Palooza’ to repair winter storm damage

RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) – Richmond’s chief administrative officer announced a pothole repair initiative Wednesday, as city crews work around the clock to address road damage caused by back-to-back winter storms.

The effort, called “Pothole Palooza,” has been underway for the last couple of weeks. As of the announcement, the city had filled more than 1,300 potholes this year.

Richmond CAO Odie Donald said they’ve seen an uptick in potholes because of the winter storms, but it’s typical to get more potholes around this time of year.

“As of last count, there are about 930 potholes that popped up because of those, the changes to our environment. And so, there are about 812 of them that we’ve filled so far,” Donald said…
