Albany man pleads not guilty to attempted murder after alleged gun and knife attack

Albany, NY (WRGB) — A 20-year-old Albany man has been formally charged after prosecutors said he attacked an acquaintance with a gun and a knife near a Stewart’s store on Delaware Avenue.

Albany County District Attorney Lee C. Kindlon announced that George Perment was arrested and arraigned on a sealed grand jury indictment that was opened and unsealed by the Honorable William T. Little. The four-count indictment charges Perment with attempted murder in the second degree, attempted assault in the first degree, assault in the second degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree.

The indictment says that on Feb. 2, Perment attempted to slash the victim in the face with a knife in the area of Stewart’s on Delaware Avenue. Prosecutors said that after the initial altercation, Perment then pistol-whipped the victim, causing an injury to the victim’s eye…
