FIRST ALERT: Severe storms possible Thursday

AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) – As we start our Thursday, things are falling into place for severe thunderstorm threats this afternoon. Early morning fog is an indicator of plentiful moisture in the atmosphere. If we get the lift needed, storms will be anticipated.

If there is clearing and storms are able to form, many will produce severe weather including damaging wind and hail as well as a tornado threat going into the late afternoon period.

Now, all this being said, if cloudy skies stick around and we don’t warm up as much, storms could still form, but the overall severe risk drops dramatically. Cooler temperatures could kill storm chances all together in a more extreme scenario.

Stay tuned for any potential severe weather streams, as well as updates from the First Alert Weather Team.
