From law to dough: Joe Kurowski’s pizzeria becomes a St. Louis staple

ST. LOUIS — On any given day on The Hill, you’ll find a lively group of friends gathered around a table, sharing laughs, stories, and — most importantly — pizza. And, what keeps them coming back is the food.

Located in the heart of St. Louis’ historic Italian neighborhood, Pizzaria Da Gloria has been serving the community since 2020. Known for its wood-fired pizzas and welcoming atmosphere, the restaurant has quickly become a neighborhood staple.

Behind the oven is founder Joe Kurowski, who took an unconventional path to the restaurant business. Before opening the pizzeria, Kurowski worked as a lawyer. When he wasn’t practicing law, he was experimenting in the kitchen — honing a craft that would eventually change his career…
