Copper wire theft knocks out 60 light fixtures in NE Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. (KPTV) – Sixty light fixtures in northeast Portland are dark after thieves stole copper wiring from the fixtures, the Oregon Department of Transportation said.

ODOT officials said the thefts in the Exit 7 area of Interstate 84 were reported last week. The agency has not determined exactly when the theft occurred.

The damage is estimated to cost around $200,000 to repair. ODOT said the lights will likely remain out until repairs can be made next week…
