The confrontation happened at the corner of 4th and Congress streets on Thursday, March 5, when the officer was issuing a ticket to a vehicle parked illegally in a pedestrian crosswalk, Mantello said in a statement.
The vehicle’s owner approached the officer and began shouting racial obscenities and threatened to “run over” the officer if he did not move out of the way, according to the mayor.
