Cape Coral teen arrested after high-speed chase and crash

CAPE CORAL, Florida — A Cape Coral teenager was arrested following a high-speed chase and crash on Wednesday, according to the Cape Coral Police Department.

Christian James Decena, an 18-year-old from Cape Coral, was observed by a traffic unit officer driving a silver Kia sedan at 55 mph in a 35-mph zone on Nicholas Parkway East. When the officer attempted a traffic stop, Decena fled westbound, running a red light and eventually crashing into a median and a city-owned traffic sign. He then drove north in the southbound lanes of Santa Barbara Boulevard.

Officers located the damaged Kia near Southwest 3rd Avenue and Southwest 8th Street, where Decena was found examining the vehicle and was detained without further incident. A records check revealed the vehicle was unregistered and had a license plate registered to a different vehicle. The crash caused approximately $1,000 in damage to city property…
