JARRATT, Va. (WAVY) — Dustin Turner, a former Navy SEAL trainee, was released from the Greensville Correctional Center in Jarratt Thursday after serving nearly 31 years in prison for the abduction and death of Jennifer Evans, a tourist from Georgia.
Turner was granted parole earlier this year after serving more than three decades for the 1995 Virginia Beach crime. Turner admitted to helping hide Evans’ body in a Newport News park, but he consistently denied participating in her murder, testifying that fellow SEAL trainee Billy Joe Brown strangled her in a fit of drunken rage.
Family members arrived at the correctional facility Thursday morning to meet Turner as he walked out a free man. WAVY reporter Andy Fox was present for the release and spoke with Turner and his family…
