Winter weather advisory active for Western NY, Finger Lakes until early Friday morning

At 5:24 p.m. on Thursday, the National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory in effect until Friday at 5 a.m. for Niagara, Orleans, Monroe, Wayne, Erie, Genesee and Wyoming counties.

The weather service says to prepare for, “Light freezing rain. Total ice accumulations around a few hundredths of an inch.”

“Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Difficult travel conditions are possible. The hazardous conditions will impact the this evening commute,” states the weather service. “Periods of freezing rain will result in slick roads. Slow down and use caution while driving.”
