Virginia Beach Fire confirms response to smoke in Pungo was ‘Good Intent’ call

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – Virginia Beach fire officials confirmed Thursday afternoon that smoke reported in the Pungo area was the result of a controlled marsh burn rather than an active fire. The department classified the response as a “Good Intent” call.

WAVY reached out to the fire department after receiving numerous inquiries from the public.

The reports came as smoke billowed over the marshlands of Muddy Creek. People at nearby Blue Pete’s Restaurant could see the smoke, leading some residents to believe the local business was in danger…
