200 Layoffs: Whitsett furniture plant closing just one year after Prepac named it key hub

WHITSETT, N.C. — A Canada-based manufacturer says it is shutting down operations, a move that will close its Whitsett facility and lay off about 200 employees just a few years after the plant opened.

According to the North Carolina Department of Commerce, Prepac Manufacturing filed a WARN notice on March 3, with layoffs scheduled to take effect May 2 at its Hendren Road facility.
