MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — A Chunchula man is dead after a two-vehicle crash that left a Semmes Police officer injured, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division.
Man dies, police officer injured in deadly Semmes crash
The crash occurred around 5:43 a.m. Wednesday on Alabama 217 near the 10-mile marker in Mobile County, according to ALEA. The location was about 1 mile north of the Semmes city limits.
Mason W. Cure, 33, was driving a 2000 Toyota Tacoma that collided head-on with a 2022 Ford Explorer driven by an on-duty Semmes police officer, according to an ALEA news release.
Cure was not using a seat belt, according to investigators, who said that first responders pronounced him dead at the scene.
